Hi! I’m Sarah. I’m a naturalist, tour guide and full-time Florida Keys resident for over 21 years.
Most days, I guide kayak and paddleboard eco-tours. I absolutely LIVE to paddle and look for wildlife, it’s what I do on most of my own vacations! I love creating opportunities for visitors to encounter Florida’s diverse wildlife, always with the goal of education and conservation.
When not on the water, I’m often at Key West Wildlife Center, where I’ve served in various capacities since 2005, assisting in the rescue, rehabilitation & release of native birds, bats, turtles, neonatal mammals, etc..
In 2020, I created and maintained an audio tour app called BeachBunny’s Original Tours of Key West. I discontinued the app in 2024, but my EASY STROLLING (OR BIKING) AUDIO TOUR OF DOWNTOWN KEY WEST is available via WeGoTrip!
Other recent gigs include putting together a black history tour for a state bar association, training walking tour guides for the Key West Literary Seminar, and leading a graduating class on a beachy bike tour adventure. I’ve guided ghost tours and food tours and just about every sort of tour you can imagine in Key West!
In 2007, I wrote & revised 3 editions of a travel guide, Key West: A Guide to Florida’s Southernmost City, for Tourist Town Guides. I’ve written feature articles for Keys Style and Keys History magazines and provided travel web content for USA Today and GoGoBot. My personal essays have been published in anthologies by Lonely Planet and Whispering Angel Books.
My creative work explores nature, mythology, folklore, fairy-tales and feminism. Poetry was most recently published in Decimos, We Say (Editors’ Choice Award Nominee Collection) and Key West, I Love You: An Anthology of Love Poems. I was a Featured Poet at Key West Womanfest 2025 Women & Works!
I recently performed with Key West Fringe in a two-woman play, The Gulf in 2023 and in the musical ensemble of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change in 2025.
